Jacques Cousteau called the Sea of Cortez the "World's Aquarium."
A week of diving on the protected reefs of Cabo Pulmo and you'll unequivocally agree!
Estimated to be around 20,000 years old, the reef of Cabo Pulmo has been considered a treasure of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula and has over 800 species of marine life.
Cabo Pulmo is a perfect example of eco-tourism at its finest. The region is ideal for those seeking for the quieter, more natural side of Los Cabos. Scuba diving and snorkeling are very popular in this area, providing an up-close look at this amazing underwater ecosystem. Home to one of the largest and most diverse coral reefs in North America, it provides a safe haven for over 800 species of marine life in the Sea of Cortez. Five of the world’s seven endangered species of sea turtles find refuge in Cabo Pulmo and the largest collections of sharks, including bull sharks, tiger sharks, hammerhead sharks, blacktip and white tip sharks. This eco-destination is remote and unspoiled and is the perfect "off the beaten path" experience.
Cabo Pulmo is certainly a unique experience for divers of any level, in any season and is the star of our diving areas in Baja California Sur.
More than 15 different dive sites with depths ranging from 10 to 100 feet, are all within a short 10 minute boat ride. In the area we can find seasonal marine life with hundreds of species, including schools of Rays, Sea Turtles, giant Groupers, large schools of Big-eyed Jacks, Pork fish, Eels, Rays, sea lions, sharks, and many, many more.
We'll make 2 different dives in the National Park from pangas, with bottom times of 45/50 minutes for each dive by park rule. The surface interval between the dives will be on the boat with some snacks and cold water to drink.
With a maximum of 6 divers per boat plus the divemaster, small groups of divers are guaranteed - makes it a great underwater photography experience if you are so inclined!

Cabo Pulmo is a rather primitive village and electricity is provided solar and by generators only.
We will all be staying in small casitas. The difference in pricing of the casitas is that the less expensive ones are a few blocks from the dive shop and do not have kitchenettes while the more expensive ones are closer to, but not on, the beach and have kitchenettes.
ONE OF THE CASITAS IS QUEEN BED ONLY AND ANOTHER IS A KING BED ONLY. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE BOOKING AS A COUPLE AND WANT TO SHARE A BED SO WE CAN BE SURE TO ASSIGN YOU TO ONE OF THOSE CASITAS.
WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO ACCOMMODATE ROOMMATE REQUESTS.
Despite being somewhat primitive (which really helps to reduce the stress on the reef which is patrolled and protected by a dedicated team), there are a number of spectacular restaurants in the village. In fact, Tacos and Beer serves up some of the best tacos I've ever eaten!
I (Steve - and I will be leading this trip) have dived Pulmo many many times and the experience is amazing. We would be happy to put you in touch with others who explored Pulmo with us in 2021 if you'd like references to the experience.
Here is the itinerary:
Saturday, 8 November 2025
Arrive at the Los Cabos Airport in San Jose del Cabo. We will have van(s) to take us on the 1 1/2 hour drive to Cabo Pulmo, where we will settle into our casitas, arrange our gear, get briefed by the dive team and have a chance to relax before our underwater adventures begin.
Sunday, 9 November 2025 thru Saturday, 15 November 2025
2 morning dives each day.
Note that afternoon dives are available for an extra charge and on a limited basis, depending on availability and demand. Further - night diving is not permitted in Cabo Pulmo. Because the reefs are strictly protected, there is a limit to the number of divers who can visit each site each day and each week, thus affecting availability.
Furthermore, one of our Dive Masters, Claudio Bonato, is an acclaimed Free Diving Instructor. Free diving instruction can be made available at an additional cost, but this is a great opportunity to try it if you're so inclined!
Sunday, 16 November 2025
The van(s) will take us back to the airport in San Jose del Cabo. However, if you are up for it, you may wish to add a couple of days or more to explore San Jose del Cabo and/or Cabo San Lucas.
INCLUDES:
8 Diving Days with 2 dives per day for a total of 16 dives
8 Nights Lodging, Double Occupancy
Round-trip transfers from/to San Jose del Cabo Airport
NOT INCLUDED:
Airfare, meals, alcohol, additional dives, gratuities, extra nights before or after the dates of the itinerary stated above, free diving instruction, any activities other than the 2 dives per day that is part of this package.
PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A SINGLE SUPPLEMENT AS AVAILABILITY WILL NEED TO BE CHECKED AND THE ADDITIONAL COST MAY VARY DEPENDING ON THE AVAILABILITY OF CASITAS.
